A Swedish medical device company will relocate its U.S. headquarters from Connecticut to Hopkinton beginning in May.
The company, Unfors Instruments Inc., makes calibration equipment for devices that use X-Ray technology. It recently signed a lease for 12,200 square feet of space at the Hopkinton Technology Park, located at 86 South St.
Kevin McMahon, president of Unfors Instruments, said that approximately five people will move from the company's existing New Milford, Conn., base of operations to the new Hopkinton facility. The company will also need to hire an additional 20 employees to work in Massachusetts.
The move from New Milford will begin on May 1 and conclude by the end of the October, according to McMahon.
The Hopkinton facility will mostly host sales, marketing, customer service and administration staff, as well as staff for a calibration lab that services Unfors equipment.
McMahon said Hopkinton was a natural choice for the company because of the high concentration of medical device companies in the region.
JEEBO Management LLC owns 86 South St.
Greater Boston Commercial Properties of Marlborough and O'Brien Commercial Properties of Marlborough represented the parties in the transaction.
Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that Greater Boston Commercial Properties was the sole real estate firm involved in the lease deal.
