Unemployment claims filed since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic have increased to 1,065,792 in Massachusetts, according to the U.S Department of Labor data released Thursday.

There were 29,167 new claims made throughout the week ending June 27, which is 838 less than the week prior. The Labor Department on Thursday adjusted the number of claims made the week ending June 20, increasing from 29,671 to 30,005.

The unemployment numbers come after the second phase of the Massachusetts reopening process continues to be taken into effect, with restaurants, hotels and retailers now able to reopen under certain restrictions.

Employment in leisure and hospitality rose while other notable job gains include retail trade, manufacturing, education and health services, other services, and professional and business services.

Unemployment claims in June declined for adult men (10.2%), adult women (11.2%), teenagers (23.2%), whites (10.1%), Blacks (15.4%), and Hispanics (15.4%). In comparison, the jobless rate for Asians had very little change over the course of the month.

Nationally, there were 1.43 million claims filed last week, which is 55,000 less than the week prior. In total, the country has more than 49 million residents who have filed for unemployment claims since the coronavirus pandemic began.

Jobs did begin rebounding nationally in June.

The national unemployment rate dropped to 11.1%, and 4.8 million new jobs were added, according to data released Thursday. The number of people counted as unemployed fell by 3.2 million to 17.8 million. The number of unemployed people on temporary layoff decreased by 4.8 million in June to 10.6 million, following a decline of 2.7 million in May.
