For the entire month June, Worcester County reported a total of 1,332 coronavirus cases and 153 deaths, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
Considering Worcester County started off the month of June with 11,018 cases and 767 deaths, the region ended the month at a significantly lower rate than when it started.
Statewide, coronavirus cases increased by 11,925 in June. Massachusetts recorded a total of 1,019 confirmed and probable deaths.
On Wednesday, the beginning of July saw new cases in the county increase by 26, adding to the 12,376 total. Statewide, there were 157 confirmed and 104 probable cases adding to the 109,151 overall.
There were four new fatalities in Worcester County increasing the death toll to 924. Throughout Massachusetts, there were 28 confirmed coronavirus deaths contributing to the death toll reaching a record 8,081.
DPH reported 11,256 newly administered coronavirus tests on Wednesday.
As of June 25, the City of Worcester reported 57 new coronavirus cases, adding to the 5,172 overall since the pandemic began. The city’s next coronavirus update was not available Thursday morning.
UMass Memorial Health Care and Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester reported 35 inpatients and nine inpatients in the intensive care unit.
MetroWest Memorial Health in Natick and Framingham reported 33 suspected and confirmed cases and Milford Regional Medical Center reported seven. In total, the hospitals reported four suspected and confirmed cases in the ICU. Other Central Massachusetts hospitals such as Harrington Hospital, Heywood Hospital and Health Alliance Hospital in Leominster report six inpatients and three inpatients in intensive care.
Nationally, there have been more than 2.6 million confirmed cases and roughly 128,062 fatalities, according to Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. Throughout the world, coronavirus cases exceed 10.7 million with 516,786 deaths.
