Mass Megawatts Wind Power of Worcester says it has sold a 500 kilowatt wind power system to a New York- based HVAC company for $1 million.
The system was bought by a group headed by Donnelly Mechanical. Donnelly said the Mass Megawatts system, known as the Multiaxis Turbosystem, allows for the provision of wind energy without using enormous wind turbines that often face strong opposition from neighbors.
Over the next year, the Multiaxis Turbosystem will be considered for certification under the New York State Energy Research Development Agency's incentive plan for wind installers.
Donnelly said New York has abundant wind resources on its shorelines and mountains.
Mass Megawatts also said it plans to connect a 90 kilowatt unit to the grid for the U.S. Army at Fort Huachuca in Arizona next week.
In its fiscal third quarter, which ended Jan. 31, Mass Megawatts lost $147,865. In the same period the prior year, the company lost $47,508.
