Mass. gas prices fall to under $2 per gallon

The average price for a gallon of gasoline in Massachusetts recently hit a nearly seven year low.

The milestone was announced by AAA Northeast on Monday, with the organization reporting that the average price for self-serve regular gasoline had dropped to $1.98 per gallon. A year ago at this time, gasoline was 48 cents more expensive at $2.46 a gallon.

The range for gasoline prices spans 56 cents, with the state recording $2.39 a gallon in some areas.
