A more than 60-year-old auto dealership sold its property at 119-127 Chandler St. in Worcester for $2.1 million to local entrepreneurs.
Thomas Savasta of Beacon Auto Sales sold the property on Tuesday, according to Worcester real estate company NAI Glickman Kovago & Jacobs. The firm’s principal, Michael Jacobs, and Vice President Tim Whittredge represented the seller in the transaction.
The business has been family-owned and operated since 1960, according to the company’s website.
The buyer, Sutton-based Polar Views LLC, is owned by Rebecca and Daniel Yarnie.
Neither party responded to requests for comment.
Among other sites in the region, the Yarnies also own the former site of Worcester Electrical Associates Inc. at 39 Lamartine St. in Worcester. That site has been razed for redevelopment.
In August, Daniel Yarnie bought the former location of Suney’s Pub and Family Restaurant, where he once worked, for $1.25 million. The restaurant is a few blocks from the Beacon Auto Sales site.
That block of Chandler Street between Piedmont Street and Newbury Street has seen redevelopment with the redevelopment of the Torrey Factory Lofts and Worcester Common Ground’s redevelopment of 126 Chandler St., both across from the auto dealership.
The Beacon Auto Sales property is assessed by the City of Worcester for $696,500.
CORRECTION: A previous version of the story indicated that Savasta was retiring and that the site would be redeveloped by Polar Views into apartments. That was based on erroneous information provided to WBJ.
