AIS, a Leominster manufacturer of commercial office furniture, was named the manufacturer of the year for Worcester and Middlesex counties by the state's Joint Legislative Manufacturing Caucus.
The award for Affordable Interior Systems came with a hometown boost: the company was selected for the honor by Republican State Sen. Dean Tran of Fitchburg, whose district includes Leominster and other northern Worcester County communities.
“Manufacturing is an economic driver in the Worcester Middlesex District and Affordable Interior Systems is a true partner in the region,” said Tran, who is a member of the Joint Legislative Manufacturing Caucus, in a press release
AIS has annual sales of $200 million and nearly 800 employees, making it Leominster's largest employer. The company got its start in Boston in 1989 and moved into a 600,000 square-foot facility in Leominster in 2017.
The company said it has been named a manufacturer of the year by the Office Furniture Dealers Alliance eight times since 2008.
