Kennedy Community Health Center sells former Worcester location to dentistry practice

The Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center, headquartered in Worcester, sold its former Lincoln Street location to a local dentist for about $1.5 million, according to the Worcester South District Registry of Deeds.

The health center, which serves roughly 28,000 patients a year, announced an expansion into a neighboring Lincoln Street property in July. The center moved from 631 Lincoln St., the property included in this most recent sale, to 605 Lincoln St., which Kennedy Health bought for $6.5 million.

The 9,500-square-foot facility at 631 Lincoln St. was sold in a deal closed Feb. 4 to an entity registered to Houssam Alkhoury.

Dr. Houssam “Sam” Alkhoury is the founder of Worcester-based Simply Orthodontics. The practice opened in 2005 and now has 12 locations throughout Central Massachusetts, including one at 70 Elm St. in Worcester.

The Edward M. Kennedy health center bought the Lincoln Street property for $1.1 million in 2007 from nonprofit Planned Parenthood, according to the Worcester assessors’ database. The City of Worccester assess the property at $1.6 million.

The health center also tripled its space in Milford in a 15,000-square-foot expansion, and moved its Worcester administrative headquarters to NE Cutoff from Lincoln Street in a consolidation effort.
