The Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center, headquartered in Worcester, announced Wednesday its Milford facility is moving across the street, tripling the center’s current square footage and increasing the resources it provides to town residents.
The new 15,000-square-foot office space will be constructed at 41 Cape Road, across the street from its current 5,000-square-foot location, which was established in 2014. In Milford, Kennedy provides primary and preventative medical care, access to mental health professionals, case management, care coordination, and other resources, according to a press release from the center.
The Milford Daily News first reported news of the center's expansion.
Site work and construction preparation have already started as the Milford health center is expected to be complete next year.
The Milford health center employs 37 staff members and serves 4,639 patients totaling 13,555 visits during fiscal 2020, according to a news article Kennedy posted to its website. With the expansion, Kennedy expects to serve an additional 4,000 patients.
In July, the Kennedy center announced a $6.5-million investment in a new, 30,000-square-foot office on Lincoln Street in Worcester.
