IBM's Littleton Software Lab Open For Business
IBM has opened its largest software laboratory in North America at 550 King St. in Littleton, which will eventually have 3,400 employees.
The building was formerly a Digital Equipment Corp., Compaq and H-P complex before IBM purchased it. Departments that support the software lab, such as marketing and accounting will be located at existing IBM offices at 5 Technology Park Drive in Westford.
This week, 1,200 employees are moving into the remodeled building. Construction on the IBM Massachusetts Lab will continue into 2010, according to the company.
IBM bought 12 companies in Massachusetts since 2003, and has had operations spread out at different locations and the new software lab brings many groups together where they can collaborate, according to the company.
