Noting that “the boom can only last so long” in solar energy installations, New England Clean Energy of Hudson has diversified its product offerings.
In a statement Wednesday, Mark Durrenberger, president of the nine-year-old company, said New England Clean Energy is now selling ductless “mini-split” heating and cooling systems, and solar attic fans. Founded in 2006, the company has been known primarily as a designer and installer of solar (photovoltaic) systems for homes and businesses.
Meanwhile, the company has also expanded its customer base into northeastern Connecticut.
To minimize its own carbon footprint, the company keeps its service area to within an hour drive of its Hudson office. The 15 towns now being served in Connecticut are within that self-imposed geography, the statement said. New England Clean Energy expanded its service area into southern New Hampshire in 2014, and into Rhode Island this year.
“Solar in Massachusetts is booming, but the boom can only last so long. In order to run a sustainable business that will be here long-term to service our hundreds of solar customers, we need to diversify and expand, in a smart and controlled way,” Durrenberger said.
