The number of single-family homes put under agreement in the Bay State rose more than 10 percent in September compared to the same month last year, the Massachusetts Association of Realtors reported.
That is the fifth straight month that homes put under agreement are up on a year-over-year basis. A home under agreement is when the buyer and seller of a home agree to the terms of the sale, but the transaction has not yet been finalized.
It's not all good news though: Compared to August, the number of homes put under agreement dropped 11 percent.
There were 3,936 homes put under agreement in September, which compares to 3,609 during the same month last year. In August, 4,411 homes were put under agreement.
Condominium sales were basically flat from this year compared to last year but were down more than 20 percent compared to the month before.
