Sales of single-family homes in Massachusetts dropped by double digits in March compared to the same month last year, according to the Boston-based Warren Group and the Massachusetts Association of Realtors.
The Warren Group reported a 14.4 percent drop to 2,704, a monthly total that was still higher than in January or February. MAR, which records only sales involving a Realtor, said sales dropped by an even steeper 22.4 percent to a total of 2,242.
Sales in early 2010 were boosted by a federal tax credit for first-time homebuyers.
The median price for a single-family home also fell 2.8 percent, to $267,250, according to the Warren Group, or 2.3 percent to $273,475, according to MAR.
Condominium sales fell even more than single-family homes, by 31.6 percent according to the Warren Group, or 23.5 percent according to MAR.
