Heidi Richardson, Account Executive, Palley Advertising

Richardson

Heidi Richardson recently made a leap from Rotmans Furniture in Worcester, where she developed advertising, marketing strategy and promotions for the retailer to Palley Advertising, also in Worcester, where she will be doing some of the same work for multiple clients.

Vital Stats:
Residence: Northbridge
Family: Husband James, 1 Daughter and 1 Son
Education: BA Communications, Framingham State College
Previous job: Rotmans Furniture
Start date at new job: Nov. 10, 2008

Q. How are you settling in at your new office?
A. Great. My new co-workers have made the transition easier than I expected. I am looking forward to developing those relationships further. The clients I've met have been welcoming as well. I'm excited about learning their businesses and helping them build their brands.

Q. What's the biggest surprise you've had in starting the job?
A. How excited I feel about working with new demographics.

Q. What challenges do you see in your new position?
A. In a harder economy, businesses often feel the need to pull back their advertising and marketing efforts. Usually, tougher times call for greater efforts. The challenge is showing business owners and marketing teams that utilizing the experience and power of an agency like Palley makes those efforts much more efficient.

Q. How different is this job from your previous position?
A. Not too different. Leaving the in-house agency at Rotmans to come to Palley basically means I do a similar job, but on behalf of multiple clients. I will miss the intense relationship to the business I had before, but plan to become as involved as possible with clients.

Q. How close is this to what you imagined in high school you'd end up doing?
A. Right in line. I knew that I wanted to study advertising, marketing and public relations and saw myself easily fitting into a role like this one. Originally, I think I saw that role in a big Boston firm. Now I know better. A closer relationship to clients and attention to their businesses is perfect for me.

Q. Where's the best place to get lunch near your new location?
A. Lucky's Cafe!

Q. What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
A. I know that I want to continue in my field. I hope to get a host of new experiences with Palley, be a part of bringing success to my clients, and still enjoy going to work every day!
