Gateway Park a finalist for economic development award

Worcester's Gateway Park life-sciences campus is a finalist for an Economic Development Adminstration 2007 Excellence in Economic Development award.
The Gateway Park project, a joint venture between Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Worcester Business Development Corp., is one of three finalists in the "urban or suburban economic development" category. Nominations in the category were evaluated based on their ability to use innovative, market-based strategies to improve urban or suburban economic development.
Winners will be announced later today.
The 11-acre, mixed use Gateway Park project is expected to open in September, and will feature more than 1 million square feet of research, development and office space geared toward the life sciences. It will create up to 2,500 new jobs.
