Definitive Healthcare, a Framingham healthcare data and analytics firm, has acquired a similar company with offices in Cambridge and Sweden.

The deal, which Definitive Healthcare announced Thursday, brings together two healthcare industry intelligence platforms to help biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies quicken clinical research and commercialization of new drugs and therapies, said Jason Krantz, the founder and CEO of Definitive Healthcare, in a statement. Bjorn Carlsson, CEO and co-founder of Monocl, said in a statement his company was happy to combine with a like-minded firm.

The acquisition, for which financial details weren't disclosed, gives Definitive Healthcare its first presence, through Monocl, in Europe and Asia. Monocl, a subscription-based service, helps companies identify and engage industry experts with the best knowledge for the areas of health that their drugs or therapies address.

Definitive Healthcare, which serves pharmaceutical and medical device firms, care providers and others, has already gained recognition for fast growth.

Last November, the company was named the 267th fastest-growing technology firm in the country by the international professional services firm Deloitte. Definitive Healthcare at that point had grown by 413% in the past year, placing it as the only Central Massachusetts firm on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 list and one of 36 from Massachusetts. It has also made a succession of Inc. 5000 lists, which highlights the fastest-growing private companies: 611th nationally in 2017, 978th in 2018, and 1,020th in 2019.

In the past two years, Definitive Healthcare has bought two other similar firms: HIMSS Analytics of Vermont, and PatientFinder, a Florida software analytics firm. Definitive Healthcare is backed financially by 22C Capital, Advent International, and Spectrum Equity. The company said its data includes 8,800 hospitals and integrated delivery networks, and 135,000 physician groups.
