Framingham Co. Moves Florida Operations

HeartWare, an Australian medical device company with U.S. operations based in Framingham, is moving its Florida manufacturing plant to an expanded, upgraded facility.

The new 59,000-square-foot building in Miami Lakes is nearly twice the size of the company's current facility in Miramar, Fla. Currently leased by a division of Johnson & Johnson, the facility includes offices, labs, R&D facilities and 10,000 square feet of clean room space.

HeartWare said it expects to complete the move in May, and it should not affect the timing of its regulatory process.

HeartWare manufactures miniaturized implantable heart pumps.
