Neil Nicoll, CEO of the YMCA of the USA, and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Worcester until 1992, will be in the city Thursday to cut the ribbon on the organization's central community branch at 766 Main St.
The branch recently underwent a $5 million renovation. The YMCA's Greendale family branch also got $1.5 million in renovations.
The ceremony is scheduled for 5 p.m.
The projects were funded by donations, including a $500,000 gift from Gene J. DeFeudis and $2.2 million from the George I. Alden Trust, the largest single contribution from any person or organization in the local YMCA's 144-year history.
Nicoll's visit is part of the YMCA of Central Massachusetts' annual recognition event. After leaving the YMCA of Greater Worcester in 1992, Nicoll became president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Seattle. In 2006, he became CEO of the YMCA of the USA.
