Worcester insurer Fallon Health has donated $200,000 to the City of Worcester to establish a five-year fitness program at the Worcester Senior Center.
The city plans to celebrate the donation at a ribbon cutting event on Thursday, which will mark the opening of a refurbished room on the second floor of the Senior Center’s fitness center, according to a Monday press release from the city. The room will be home to fitness programming funded by Fallon’s donation.
The donation will pay for exercise equipment and fees associated with instructor-led programming. Classes include strength training, osteoporosis prevention, dance, tai chi, aerobics, and more. Virtual options got off the ground earlier in 2022, although in-person classes are also now available.
As of now, the programming is set to run through 2027.
