Fallon creates executive position for Medicaid programs

Worcester insurer Fallon Health has named Matthew Herndon to the newly created position of senior vice president and chief state programs officer.

In the role, Herndon will focus on state programs as part of Fallon’s service of members who are Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries.

“In keeping with our commitment to the changing and unique needs of the diverse communities we serve, Matt brings a wealth of experience and insight to the work he will do in helping to guide the organization’s focus on members who need us most,” said Richard Burke, president and CEO of Fallon Health, in a release.

According to Fallon, Herndon has health plan experience and knowledge of the Massachusetts Medicaid market. His most recent work experience listed on LinkedIn includes serving as the CEO of The Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare in Boston. Herndon holds a law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, according to LinkedIn, and has served in counsel positions for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care in Wellesley and Boston Medical Center HealthNet Plan.

Herndon will lead Fallon’s MassHealth and community care lines of business.
