Marlborough-based Evergreen Solar Inc. says its solar panels are being used to provide electricity for a new electric vehicle battery recharging station in Germany.
The station is in a high-traffic area of Frankfurt and provides free charging for small electric vehicles like bikes and scooters. The Evergreen panels are mounted on the station’s roof.
Evergreen estimates that on sunny days, the panels will produce 21 kilowatt hours of electricity, enough to annually power 115,000 kilometers of travel for the average electric scooter. The cost of the panel installation was 65,000 Euros.
