Workforce50.com, a career website for experienced, mid-to-late career workers, has been acquired by Prancing Dog Publications LLC of Sudbury.
Prancing Dog, a startup venture, was launched by Nancy Peterson, a co-founder of Workforce50.com and a lead developer. Workforce50 got its start in 2007 by NHC Group Inc., a technology company that has managed career websites since 1998. Peterson eventually became its editor, a position she held until September 2012.
In addition to providing job listings, Workforce50.com has aimed to assist older workers with employment issues and career-transition information. Peterson said she wants to shift focus of the site more to basic topics that arise for the newly employed.
"While sudden job loss is terrifying for anyone, when a (baby) boomer or senior suddenly becomes unemployed, there can be so many more issues to consider than just updating your resume," she said.
