Hopkinton-based data storage giant EMC Corp. said it will acquire Archer Technologies, a privately-held Kansas-based software firm.
Archer provides governance, risk and compliance software and is expected to become part of RSA, EMC’s security division, in the first quarter, when the acquisition closes.
EMC said Archer will remain in Kansas.
Technology developed by Archer will bring “stronger policy management capabilities to the RSA portfolio,” EMC said. EMC intends to combine Archer’s software with its own data loss prevention and security information management systems.
Archer already claims more than 6 million users.
