Ireland-based medical device company Creganna, which has operations in Marlborough, announced it has purchased 6-year-old California company Tactx Medical Inc. for an undisclosed amount.
Both companies specialize in supplying products, technology and support services to medical device and life science companies that focus on minimally invasive techniques. The two companies will employ more than 800 people, 550 of which currently work for Creganna, and have offices around the world including in California, Minnesota, Singapore, Ireland and Marlborough. The two companies had combined revenues of $110 million in 2009 and will operate under the name Creganna-Tactx Medical.
Creganna CEO Helen Ryan said the company has no plans to change staffing levels at any sites, including the Marlborough office, which employs about 40 people and focuses on contract design and manufacturing.
Financials of the deal were not disclosed, but Barclays Bank Ireland, HSBC Corporate Banking Ireland and Bank of Ireland all helped broker acquisition.
