DOT worker accused of lying, acquitted by jury
A former state Department of Transportation worker accused of lying in a bid rigging corruption investigation has been found not guilty by a jury.
John Marchese of Middletown was one of five DOT employees and contractor charged in January 2006. He was acquitted by a New Britain Superior Court jury Wednesday.
Marchese and the other DOT workers were charged with perjury for allegedly lying about receiving gifts in exchange for steering a highway contract toward Marino Brothers of New England Inc., a Massachusetts-based construction company.
Marchese's lawyer says his client, who has lived without a paycheck for the past year, will try to get his DOT job back.
