The U.S. Department of Justice is suing a Worcester residential landlord and an employee for sexually harassing female tenants.
From at least 2009 to now, landlord Mohan Prashad, the sole agent for Davton LLC and Lanaton LLC, and an employee, sexually harassed female tenants in his properties, the Department of Justice alleges. Per Worcester land records, Prashad’s properties are located at 58 West St., 120 Main St. and 28 Lee St.
He also previously owned properties at 34 Irving St. and 163 Austin St.
Prashad allegedly made unwelcome sexual advances to female tenants and offered benefits like reduced rent in exchange for sex. He refused to provide needed maintenance or services against female tenants who resisted his advances.
The lawsuit alleges David Beshaw, a Level 3 registered sex offender in the state, was employed by Prashad since 2014 to help manage the properties, but acted in the same manner as his boss.
Prashad did nothing when told of Besaw’s sexual harassment of female tenants, the lawsuit alleges.
Besaw’s alleged infractions include unwelcome sexual contact, sexual assault, exposure to female tenants, and making unannounced visits to female tenants’ apartments.
