New Haven’s mayor today announced the formation of the Economic Development Corporation of New Haven, a one-stop center to attract new businesses and retain existing ones.
John DeStefano Jr. says EDC will benefit from private investment partners that include Yale University and members of the New Haven business community. DeStefano also announced the appointment of Michele L. Whelley as CEO of the new entity.
Whelley, who has more than 20 years of experience in economic development, was previously senior vice president of real estate firm Colliers Pinkard and president of Downtown Partnership of Baltimore.
