Worcester-based ECI Biotech Inc., has DUANE JAMES as COO. He will be responsible for all financial and corporate administrative functions at ECI. Prior to joining ECI, he worked for Inverness Medical Innovations Inc. as corporate controller before being promoted to chief accounting officer then promoted again to vice president of finance and treasurer in October 2000.
WILLIAM CONROY has joined RemoteReality in Westborough as senior vice president of production and operations. Conroy held key operations positions at Karl Storz Endovision in Charlton. Most recently, he spent four years in Canton as operations manager of Northrop Grumman’s Electronic Systems Division.
The Northeast Human Resources Association has elected new officers and members to the board of directors, including several local residents. JASON ROBART, of Stow and a principal at Mercer Human Resource Consulting Inc. and LISA ZANKMAN, of Framingham and senior vice president of human resources, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, were both elected to the board.
Dr. B. DALE MAGEE was elected president of the Massachusetts Medical Society. Magee has served as president-elect for the last year, but will serve a one-year term as the top officer of the statewide professional membership organization representing more than 18,600 physicians, residents, and medical students. Magee is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist who practices at Shrewsbury OB-GYN PC.
Hudson-based Murphy Insurance Agency has announced that WILLIAM PERCUOCO has been named to the new position of commercial sales manager.
He will be responsible for monitoring business production, training new outside commercial account executives. Percuoco joined Murphy Insurance in 1980 and has had a variety of responsibilities including accounts receivables, commercial lines account executive, commercial lines manager and IT manager.
Six local citizens have been elected to the board of corporators of Whitinsville-based UFS Bancorp, the holding company of UniBank. DAVE RODGERS has joined Workers’ Credit Union as senior vice president, community and governmental affairs and commercial business development. In the newly created position, Rodgers will oversee community and government relations and will work closely with the new business development team. He has extensive banking experience, serving previously for the past eleven years as a senior vice president of Fitchburg Savings Bank managing community relations, facilities and business development activities.
Dr. CONNIE RITTENHOUSE DREXLER recently joined the Clinton Hospital Medical Staff as a hospitalist physician and currently is treating inpatients at the hospital, announced Clinton Hospital President and CEO Sheila Daly. Drexler is board certified in internal medicine. Prior to joining Clinton Hospital, Drexler was a traveling physician on tours to Africa, Mexico and Europe. She most recently was an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
PATRICK TROMBLY was recently elected credit officer at Middlesex Savings Bank in Natick. He has more than five years experience in commercial banking and lending, has been with Middlesex Savings Bank since 2005. As credit officer, he will analyze current and prospective loan relationships for financial condition, collateral, and risk, and provides underwriting recommendations in order to ensure proper lending and loan structure. Trombly was previously employed in credit and lending at Citizens Bank.
Clinton Savings Bank has elected DAVID ROSS as chairman of the board of the bank and Clinton Financial Services. Ross has served on the Clinton Savings Bank board of directors since 1993. As the new chairman of the board, he has various fiduciary duties, functions and responsibilities.
Winchendon-based Broad-view Assisted Living has hired LINDA FOGARTY as activities director. She has more than 25 years of experience in the fields of therapeutic and recreational activities for organizations providing continuing care.
Worcester-based Summit ElderCare has appointed Suzanne Sullivan as nurse practitioner. In this position, she will work in collaboration with other Summit ElderCare clinical staff to provide primary care and other geriatric support services for program participants at all sites. Sullivan has over 15 years of experience in providing clinical care to patients throughout Central Massachusetts, and served most recently as a nursing instructor at Quinsigamond Community College.
Verax Biomedical Inc. in Worcester, has announced two key executive appointments: R. SCOTT MCKENZIE as senior vice president of operations, and NANCY HORNBAKER as vice president of regulatory affairs. Prior to joining Verax, McKenzie was site director of the Abbott Diagnostics immunoassay manufacturing facility in Longford, Ireland. Hornbaker was a regulatory consultant for Biologics Consulting Group and has advised Verax in regulatory affairs since 2002.

The May 14 story on declining daily newspaper circulation should have included additional information for the reason behind the Telegram & Gazette’s drop. In addition to its web site’s change from a paid to a free service, circulation also declined due to reductions in third-party sales and educational sales, according to Publisher Bruce Gaultney.
