Worcester craft and antique boutique Crompton Collective will open a second location in August on Main Street in Hudson.
The new store will be called Haberdash, named after the original mobile store run by Founder Amy Lynn Chase in 2009, which was the precursor to Crompton Collective opening in 2012.
With the expansion into the new 730-square-foot location, Chase expects to hire two more employees to serve the two stores, bringing her to nine total employees, all of whom are part time. The $850-per-month lease on the Hudson space runs for two years, with an option for three more years.
"What attracted us to Hudson besides its small town charm was the great ways to enjoy the outdoors and like Worcester, a love for quality food and craft beer," Chase said.
Chase had been looking to expand into Hudson for the last two years and looked at multiple locations before settling on 77 Main St. Haberdash will be about a block away from the Rail Trail Flatbread Co. restaurant and the Medusa Brewery.
"We ... have become friendly with other business owners in the area. They were a huge help in getting us to town," said Chase.
Haberdash will be more gift and clothing oriented than Crompton, partnering with artisans and craft makers from around the country to provide their goods to be sold in Hudson, said Chase.
In the new location, Chase wants to create a classic American Main Street storefront with big wooden doors and large windows, directly across from Hudson Town Hall.
"It will really feel like those Main Street shops you used to walk into," Chase said.
Chase is updating the progress of the new location at @TheHaberdash on Instagram.
