CPI Dips

The nationwide Consumer Price Index ticked down by 0.1 percent last month, but remains 1.1 percent higher compared to last year, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced.

Declining energy prices, which dropped 2.9 percent last month, did not offset increased prices for most other items other than fuel and food. All items excluding fuel and food rose 0.2 percent last month.

Food prices remained unchanged from the previous month.

The 0.1 percent decline in June follows a 0.2 percent drop in prices in May.
