CPI Creeps Down

The Consumer Price Index fell 0.1 percent on a seasonally-adjusted basis last month as increases in food prices were offset by a decline in energy prices, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Energy prices, which had increased for the past three months, fell slightly in October, the BLS found, while food prices rose by the smallest amount so far this year.

All other items rose 0.1 percent, mirroring the September increase.
