Consumer Spending Up

Consumer spending rose 0.7 percent in February, while personal income and disposable personal income both grew 0.3 percent, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.

The rise in consumer spending, an increase of $69.1 billion, came on top of a January increase of $29.5 billion, or 0.3 percent.

Inflation accounted for a big part of the increases, however. Real disposable income actually fell 0.1 percent in February, while the real consumer spending increase was just 0.3 percent.
