Clark Snags International Academic For Geography School

Bebbington

Clark University in Worcester has hired Anthony Bebbington, currently on the staff of the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom and the Centro Peruano de Estudios Sociales in Peru, as director of the Graduate School of Geography.

Bebbington will begin his new position, leading the geography school and serving as Higgins Professor of Environment and Society, on July 1.

Bebbington has worked for institutions including the World Bank, the University of Colorado at Boulder, the University of Cambridge and the International Institute of Environment and Development. He studies environmental issues associated with inequality and poverty and has recently focused on the conflict between social movements and oil, gas and mining industries.

Bebbington is a graduate of the University of Cambridge and has a doctorate from Clark's Graduate School of Geography.

He is a native of Staffordshire, England.
