Clark University in Worcester has received a $329,000 grant to study the Asian Longhorned Beetle infestation in New England, the school announced this morning.
The funded project is called “Mapping Beetles, Trees Neighborhoods, and Policies: A Multi-Scaled, Urban Ecological Assessment of the Asian Longhorned Beetle Infestation in New England.”
The National Science Foundation grant extends Clark’s status as a Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) site, designed to introduce undergraduate students to faculty-led research activities.
“The grant will allow Clark undergraduate students to work with eight other undergraduates from various universities in the United States, to address the ecological and societal impacts of the present Asian Longhorned Beetle invasion in Worcester,” John Rogan, associate professor of geography, said in a statement.
