Clark Labs Lands $1.8M Grant

Clark Labs, a geospatial research department at Worcester-based Clark University, will receive a $1.8-million grant to develop a software application for land management.

Faculty will use the grant, which comes from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, to build a software platform that enhances Clark Labs’ existing land change modeler. The modeler is an application that analyzes land change and predicts and examines impacts on habitat and biodiversity. The tools will help inform land management decisions, Clark Labs said.

Clark Labs has partnered with researchers from Stanford University and elsewhere to create a suite of models that quantify and map the values of ecosystem services in a variety of habitats.
