Maddi’s Cookery & TapHouse, a restaurant located in Worcester’s Canal District, was broken into early Sunday morning, owner Adam Hicks said Monday.
Hicks said the amount stolen was minimal, but caused physical damage which will require significant repairs. The restaurant posted a photo of the smashed glass door and emptied cash register on Sunday morning with a caption stating there was a break-in.
“We were broken into last night, but that won’t stop us from serving brunch today,” the restaurant wrote in the post Sunday.
The theft occurred around 3:00 a.m., Hicks said in a phone call. He hopes to have all repairs done by Thursday when the establishment reopens.
Maddi’s is located at 64 Water St. and opened in 2018. It’s owned by Adam Hicks, who also owns Depot Street Tavern in Milford.
The break-in comes about two weeks after Crust Bakeshop, along with several other businesses on West Boylston Street in Worcester, suffered a weekend break-in during the Super Bowl costing thousands of dollars.
