Canal District restaurant Maddi’s opens Monday

New Canal District comfort-food restaurant Maddi’s Cookery and TapHouse is expected to open at 11 a.m. Monday.

The restaurant promising to bring a wide craft beer selection posted to Facebook Wednesday its common victualer license from the city.

The restaurant, owned by Adam Hicks, is his second. He’s operated the Depot Street Tavern in Milford since 2013. In 2016, Hicks, the former chef of the restaurant, purchased the property and business.

Hicks is bringing his culinary expertise to Worcester, but with a kitchen more than five times larger than the Milford restaurant.

He’s teaming up with Chris O’Harra, the former executive chef of Shrewsbury Street’s Flying Rhino. O’Harra will now manage the culinary program at both restaurants, allowing Hicks to focusing on running both businesses.
