The House plans on Wednesday afternoon to take up a $158 million spending bill that Gov. Charlie Baker hopes will be returned to his desk shortly to shore up state government accounts that are running out of money.
The House on Wednesday is also expected to approve a conference committee report halting the practice of automatically suspending the drivers' licenses of all drug offenders.
The list of bills eligible for consideration in the House is long - from local bills to bills dealing with the sale of children's jewelry, abusive practices to change sexual orientation and gender identity in minors, and wages paid on Sundays - but representatives this session have shown little interest in taking a deep dive into the bills on their House calendar.
House leadership occasionally plucks a few bills off the calendar for advancement by voice vote but members often depart formal sessions before taking up items on the calendar and after top deputies to House Speaker Robert DeLeo announce there won't be any more recorded votes.
The House gavels in at 11 a.m., with a closed Democratic caucus planned at noon.
