Timothy Pratt, the executive vice president, chief administrative officer, general counsel and secretary, will retire at the end of 2017, Boston Scientific said in a filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission on Monday.

Pratt, 67, has held his current roles since February 2010. He joined the company in May 2008 as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary, according to the company. He is responsible for management of Boston Scientific's legal functions, global compliance, government affairs, aviation and global security.

He intends to lead the efforts to find his successor and help in the transition, Boston Scientific said.

The company is scheduled to announce its first quarter financial report on April 27.

Boston Scientific announced separately this week it has started a worldwide study to evaluate the survival benefit of patients treated with its EMBLEM magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI, defibrillator system who are 65 and older with a history of prior heart attack and diabetes.
