Bio Firm Gets Patent

Nuclea Biotechnologies, which is headquartered in Pittsfield and has operations in Worcester, expects to receive a patent for a method the company created to detect breast cancer.

The method uses kinase peptides and antibodies as biomarkers to detect cancer. The patent would be the eighth one for the company.

The company received a notice of allowance from the U.S. Patent and Trade Office and expects to receive the patent in the coming weeks.

Nuclea, which has three divisions, develops marking drugs for detecting various forms of cancer.
