San Francisco-based delivery service Instacart and Springfield grocery chain Big Y have expanded their partnership to the Worcester and Boston areas, allowing shoppers to order their groceries online and have them delivered in as little as an hour.
Instacart, the online and smartphone-app grocery delivery service, previously began its services to the area in September for just a select few stores, not including Big Y.
Big Y and instacart, however, partnered in May but had not yet included the Worcester or Boston areas.
According to Big Y’s website, it has six stores in the area, including Worcester, Holden, Spencer, Southbridge, Milford and Franklin.
The announcement didn’t indicate which stores or locations would be part of the service, but Instacart’s website indicates that it isn’t yet available in Milford, Southbridge or Spencer.
In September, Instacart announced the beginning of its service to residents in Worcester, Boylston, Berlin, Holden, Northborough, Grafton, Shrewsbury, Westborough, West Boylston, Auburn, Millbury, Marlborough and Southborough.
Big Y joins Wegmans, PriceRite, CVS and Petco as Instacart-serviced stores in the area.
