Becker gets $1M to establish digital learning center

Becker College will be the recipient of $1 million over the next four years as the private Worcester college looks to establish digital learning models.

The funding, provided by Boston nonprofit American Student Assistance, will establish the ASA Center for Digital Learning Models at Becker, which will advance the use and efficacy of interactive media tools for young students.

The program aims to create and evaluate digital learning tools to assist and educate students on specific life goals, promote thought leadership in career exploration and higher education preparedness and pioneer significant advances in the digital learning space.

Staff from Boston-based ASA, or American Student Assistance, will work with Becker students and faculty for four years to conduct applied research and create a new learning environment using leading digital tools.

The program pairs well with Becker’s hallmarks, including its video game design and interactive media programs.

The ASA center, based in the Colleen C. Barrett Center on the school’s main campus in Worcester, will be overseen by Alan Ritacco, dean of Becker’s School of Design & Technology.
