Medical device company BioDirection, Inc. has relocated its headquarters from Tuscon, Arizona to Southborough.
The company has leased 5,000 square feet at 144 Turnpike Road in Southborough for its corporate headquarters. This location will house executive offices as well as finance, marketing, sales, customer service and business development functions.
Sharad Joshi, president and CEO of BioDirection, said the company plans to reach 30 employees within the next two years as it prepares to launch its first product in 2020 pending regulatory clearance.
“Availability of highly trained and experienced medical technology field personnel was a key motivating factor in our decision along with access to leading clinicians and physicians in the field of traumatic brain injury and inflammatory disease,” said Joshi, in a press release.
The company is developing products focused on diagnosis and management of concussion and other traumatic brain injuries. Its lead product, Tbit System, is based on a proprietary nanotechnology biosensor detecting and measuring protein biomarkers released from the brain immediately following a head trauma or jolt to the body. The portable system can confirm a concussion in less than 90 seconds.
