The Associated Industries of Massachusetts says a supplemental budget approved by the state House of Representatives would allow millions of dollars to be moved into the Workforce Training Fund.
In a post on the organization’s blog, AIM Executive Vice President John Regan said the $460 million supplemental budget will let the state move money that has already been earmarked for employee training into the fund. Regan wrote that the money is now “tangled in an accounting transition,” which means that companies that were awarded grants in July haven’t been able to receive the money.
The budget plan, which now moves to the Senate for debate, includes $154 million in spending and a $350 million deposit into the state’s rainy day fund, which has been depleted in recent years.
