Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley will be the keynote speaker at next week's Worcester Business Journal's Health Care Forum.
The Oct. 17 event will address the highlights on the state's new health care cost containment bill and what it means for business, as well as what is and isn't working from the original legislation and what changes we can expect in the years to come.
The forum will take place from 7:30 to 11 a.m. at Coral Seafood, 225 Shrewsbury St. in Worcester. Coakley will speak from 8:30 to 9 a.m. and be followed by a panel discussion of local experts in the health care field talking about the changing face of health care and its impact on local business. The panel will include State Senator Richard Moore (D-Uxbridge), who helped craft the legislation, as well as Dr. David Fairchild, senior vice president for clinical integration at UMass Memorial Health Care Inc.
Topics to be covered at the forum include low-cost health care options for employees; different types of taxes and assessments for employers; how employers and providers are responding to the new laws; where your health care dollars go; state-based insurance exchanges; penalties for employers and more.
