Acton-based Haartz Corp., which makes soft interior trim and convertible top material for automobiles, is expanding its presence in India with a new manufacturing facility.
Haartz is working with an Indian industrial development corporation to set up a 50,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in the district of Pune, located on the eastern side of the country. The company already has a sales office in that area, as well as in Delhi, to the north.
“We realize the automotive industry in India, as well as the rest of Southeast Asia, is one of the fastest growing segments in the world,” said Samit Sadavarte, director and general manager at Haartz Automotive India PVT.Ltd.
In 2011, Haartz launched an automotive interior program in India for the Mahindra XUV500, a sports utility vehicle.
