Accolades & Honors: Oct. 1

The Worcester-based American Antiquarian Society was awarded the annual Isaiah Thomas Award in Publishing by Rochester Institute of Technology's School of Media Sciences in Rochester, N.Y.

Westborough Conservation Services Group is a silver winner in this year's Summit Marketing Effectiveness Award for RePower, a residential energy efficiency campaign launched in Washington last year. Out of 732 entries, 58 winners were chosen from countries including the United States, Italy, Kuwait, China, Australia and Canada.

Nina Grillo, a server assistant at the LongHorn Steakhouse in Millbury, was chosen Team Member of the Year, one of four selected from the more than 390 LongHorn restaurants in North America. Grillo was chosen in part for her work delivering samples to local offices and increasing lunch business 35 percent this year.

Pat Paces of Leominster, a Beacon of Hope Community Services volunteer, was selected as a Hannaford Health Hero for her work in providing healthy meals to adults with developmental disabilities. Beacon of Hope received a $500 Hannaford gift card; Paces received a $50 gift card.

Barent W. Walsh, executive director of The Bridge of Central Massachusetts Inc., has written the second edition of his book, Treating Self-Injury, A Practical Guide, published by Guilford Press of New York City.

The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester ranks No. 5 in The Alumni Factor, a new college ranking platform, which uses objective alumni data in rating schools based on how successful their graduates are.

Dr. Robert H. Brown Jr. and Allan S. Jacobson were invested into endowed positions at University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester. Dr. Brown is chair and professor of neurology at UMass Medical School and UMass Memorial Medical Center. He previously worked at Harvard Medical School. Jacobson, chair and professor of microbiology and physiological systems, is a founding member of the medical school's faculty.

Meridian Associates, which has an office in Westborough, was named "Small Business of the Year" in The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce's 2012 Small Business of the Year Awards. Meridian is a multi-disciplinary land development and infrastructure consulting firm based in Beverly.
