n Sarah Gustafson of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Sturbridge was named Realtor of the Year by the Worcester Regional Association of Realtors. Rochelle Jonswold of Keller Williams Realty North Central, Leominster, won a Distinguished Service Award. Tracey Fiorelli of Janice Mitchell Real Estate in Holden won the Realtors Choice Award. Michael Duffy of Keller Williams Realty North Central, Leominster, won Rookie of the Year; and Jessica Albino of The Law Office of Jessica L. Albino, Auburn, won Affiliate of the Year.
Robert P. Powers, principal owner of the Worcester-based Robert P. Powers Insurance Agency was named Personal Insurance Agent of the Year by the Massachusetts Region of Travelers Insurance Co.
Julie Balunas received the annual Heart Award from Natick-based Middlesex Savings Bank. She is a legal officer based in the bank's Westborough operations center. The award is given to a bank employee who has displayed outstanding volunteer achievements. Balunas chose Natick Service Council as the award's donation recipient.
Parlee Jones, Aleta Fazzone, Gail Carberry, Noreen Johnson Smith and Hazel Berry received the Katharine F. Erskine Award from the YWCA of Central Massachusetts. The award honors those who have made a difference in the lives of women and girls. Jones is creative founder of Our Story Edutainment, a multicultural learning institute. Fazzone is director of community and customer management for National Grid's Central & Western Mass. Division. Carberry is president of Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester. Smith is vice president of development and advancement at Family Health Center of Worcester and Berry is a detective in the special crimes unit of the Worcester Police Department.
Hanover Insurance Group of Worcester won the Richard B. Kennedy Business of the Year Award from the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce. Worcester-based Domitek, an IT services firm, won Small Business of the Year. The Entrepreneur of the Year Award winner is Ryan Leary, co-founder of Running Start, a business incubator in Worcester. The Family-Owned Business of the Year Award goes to SALMON Health and Retirement in Northborough. Chamber Advocate of the Year is Richard Burke, president of senior care services at Fallon Health. PENTA Communications of Westborough won the chamber's Silver Hammer Award.
Dr. Satya Mitra, president of Worcester Rotary Club, has been selected to represent the U.S. at the Rotary International Convention in Sydney, Australia. Worcester Rotary was recognized for its 150-percent increase in membership this year. Also in Rotary news, Bob Mahoney of Worcester Flag Football; Lt. John Franco of Worcester Fire Department; Maureen Binienda, principal of South High Community School; John F. Mahan Sr. of Worcester Police Department Stress Unit; and Paul LaCava of Planting the Seed Foundation were recognized for community service. n
