Accolades & Honors: June 9, 2014

John Merrill, president & COO of Leominster-based Fidelity Bank, was named to Banker & Tradesman's 2014 roster of Community Bank Heroes. Merrill was honored at the awards gala in Boston on May 29.

Cheryl D'Ambra of Athol Savings Bank was also chosen as a Community Banking Hero by Banker & Tradesman. She is senior vice president of the retail banking division.

Anthony and Matthew Consigli, president and vice president, respectively, of Consigli Construction in Milford, both won Preservation Massachusetts 2014 Paul E. Tsongas Awards in Boston last month. Among the landmarks the brothers have renovated: Cambridge Public Library.

HealthAlliance Hospital's security department in Leominster received The International Association for Healthcare's Security and Safety Program of Distinction Award and a two-year accreditation.

Deborah Penta, founder and CEO of Westborough-based Penta Communications, was given the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce Chairman's Award last month. She is a member of the chamber, co-chaired its marketing committee and serves on its board of directors since 2003. Also, Penta Communications was awarded a Silver Hammer Award by Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce for its renovation of its new office in Westborough, a landmark on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Radco Enterprises Inc. of Oxford was awarded the 2014 Master Contractor Award — an honor in commercial roofing quality — from Firestone Building Products Co. Radco is one of 251 firms in the U.S., Canada and Mexico to be chosen.

The HYPE 9 group at the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce in Westborough was given a Volunteer Group of the Year award from Community Harvest Project in North Grafton. HYPE9 members have volunteered to plant and harvest crops at the farm since 2009.

UMass Memorial Health Care of Worcester earned three awards at the New England Society for Healthcare Communications conference recently. It won two Gold Lamplighter Awards for media outreach efforts and an Award of Excellence for the marketing and communications department's heart health calendar, featuring recipes, wellness information and fitness tips.

DMT Diamond Machining Technology, a manufacturer of diamond sharpening tools based in Marlborough, was recently presented with the presidential “E” Award for Exports in Washington, D.C. The awards are given to companies that make significant contributions to the expansion of U.S. exports. The award was presented by Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker.
