TITLE: Audit Manager, O'Connor, Maloney & Company PC
COMPANY LOCATION: Worcester
RESIDENCE: Grew up in Leicester, lives in East Brookfield
FAVORITE MOVIE: “Bourne Identity” (Trilogy)
FAVORITE BOOK: “Aristotle’s Ethics”
Career highlights:Meeting and introducing Wyc Grousbeck, managing partner and CEO of the Boston Celtics, at a Worcester Young Businessman’s Meeting a few years ago.
Community involvement: Member of the Worcester Young Businessman’s Association for the past 11 years, serving on the board for four years. Board member of the Devereux School in Rutland, member of the Spencer Exchange Club for the past eight years, serving on the board for the past six years.
Biggest success: Rising in my firm to be a leader by getting the work done as well as becoming a producer. Many business professionals are able to do the work, however, not everyone is able to be a producer. Bringing in new clients is vital to a business’s continued success and growth. Keeping your business’ name in the back of other professionals minds when they need to refer someone is essential and building strong relationships with my fellow business people in our community has been priceless.
Biggest challenge: Balancing my time between work and family has been an ongoing challenge. I have three boys at home, two teenage stepsons and a five-year-old. Being a CPA requires long hours during tax season and a lot of networking outside of tax season. Ensuring that I find time to spend quality time with my family is difficult, even more so during tax season.
Mentors: The partners in my firm have been my best mentors for my career. They have taught me how to balance work and family life. They have molded me into the businessman I am today.
Hidden talents: They’re still hiding.
